Me, Myself & I
My name is Avis and I'm married and have three children. I have two boys and a girl and their ages are 11, 7, and 5 going on 45. lol! I live in Atlanta but am originally from San Francisco. I work as a Client Services Representative for a company and my husband is an accountant. I like to travel, sing, listen to music, watch and play sports and have a good time.
My sons are Boy and Cub Scouts so at the present time, that's been keeping me busy. We're finishing our big fundraiser of selling popcorn. My oldest son has sold $1000 worth of popcorn and the other son $1300. I've been a popcorn kernel and have been at most of the sales. It was fun, exciting but I'm glad it's about over.
My passion is to help people who are in need whether it's with food, clothes or advice. I just want to be helpful. Another passion is my family. I love them and even when we get mad at each other, I only want the best for them and will do anything for them.
My husband's name is Richard and my children are Gabe, Cameron, and Amber. The personality of our home is upbeat, busy and dysfunctional. I'm embarrassed to say it, but it's true. My role as mommy is to make sure that everything gets done and that we don't forget anything as far as what's going on everyday. With the boys in scouting, tutoring and meetings, it's hard to sometimes keep things together. My friends will say that I'm the one that gets everyone together when the moms go out and relax and unwind. When I moved here, I didn't have any friends and started to get depressed. I decided to get some moms together from the daycare where our children went and asked if they wanted to get together sometime. That's being going on for a few years now. I'm also the one that they will ask advice of. I'm the mom who understands and will listen to other mothers vent. I feel good that people brings their cares and problems to me because I they know that I care about them and only want the best.

3. I'm uploading a picture of a mom who seems like she's "super mom." Now, I don't say this as though I'm patting myself on the back but when you get off work and you're going over here and over there for your kids and then have to cook dinner and sit down and play tug of war to get homework done and finally sit down and talk with your husband, you're exhausted. You only turn around and do it all over again, the next day.
I'm hoping that in years to come that things aren't so hectic and chaotic. It would be nice if a family member moved here or I moved back closer to family. If I had a support system 5-10 years from now, it may get a little better. Also, the kids will be a little older and maybe my oldest son might be driving and he can go some places for me or drive himself places. I may not have to stand over one my kids shoulders in making sure the homework gets done.
I feel like I'm not relaxed because we're constantly on the go. We stay busy just about everyday. I feel as the kids get older, you won't be going to as many birthday parties and they become a little more independent which gives you a little more time for me to take time out for me. The changes are important because I love my kids but while my life revolves around them, they will grow up and feel like they don't need mommy, even though they always will but mommy has to take the time breathe as well.
This is comfort food on a Sunday.
It's the weekend baby. We have pizza every Friday.
A meal that the entire family enjoys.
Saturday breakfast that makes the weekend special, if we're not rushed.
It's a time for us to come together and everyone tell each other how their day was. It can be therapeutic. No fussing and fighting.
Baking cookies with the kids is fun and makes memories that will last a lifetime.
We eat ice cream or a dessert every night as a family. It's our to unwind and get ready for the next day.
The kids like to go out to eat at a restaurant and when we do it is special.
Food brings my family together and makes us feel relaxed and at ease.
When I get home and the kids are doing homework or playing outside, they ask when is dinner ready because they look forward to me cooking, eating and enjoying a good meal. They like when we sit down together as a family. When we eat together, it just feels like home and it's a warm feeling.
Healthy to me is having a balanced me. Balanced is some fruit, vegetables and not too much of one food group and not enough of other things, I think healthy is staying away from too much processed foods and getting back to more natural foods. I make sure that my family eats about two fruits a day and vegetables everyday. We eat whole grains, stay away from a lot of fried foods and I drink mostly water and have reduced my intake of fast food.
