Store Scavenger Hunt!
1a. I chose the Smart Made meal because just based on the name, it gets my attention and makes me think it is healthier. The packaging says that it is made with real ingredients and it is low carb and high in protein. It has protein, vegetables and healthy carbs.
I also chose the Halo Top ice cream because the packaging references the protein and it is a low calorie dessert that won't make me feel guilty when I eat it.
b. I feel like these two brands along with Skinny Pop popcorn realize that people don't want to feel as though their being deprived of food. People still want to enjoy some of their favorite foods but want healthier options meaning lower salt, organic, and sometimes smaller portions.
2.
I think diet soda has too much sugar and people think because it's diet it is healthy. I don't think soda is good for you period. Diet sodas are designed for people who still feel as though they need a soda everyday but want to have a healthier option.
I think the fruit cups are supposed to be healthy because it's fruit but the problem is the sugar. Unless it's in water or just fruit, you have to factor in the preservatives. I do buy these for my kids just to say I've given them some fruit and it's convenient but I know fresh fruit is better.
3a. I like the Jimmy Dean Delights and Special K Flatbread sandwiches. I feel like these Delight sandwiches along with the Flatbread sandwiches are high in protein , provide a nice variety in flavors so you won't get bored. I feel like after eating one of these and some juice, I will be more satisfied than when I eat other breakfast options. I like the low calories mentioned on the box, made with whole grains, an excellent source of protein and the nutritional information on the front of the box.
b.
b. These aren't for me because as much as I like Mexican food, I don't want these combinations for breakfast because I would be concerned with it upsetting my stomach. I just feel like in the morning it should be simple and not too many different ingredients that might make me sick. The rollers don't look very appetizing and it doesn't reference any type of healthy qualities like the calories or protein.
c. For my ideal breakfast, I feel what is lacking are some omelettes pre made with either egg whites only and protein options and vegetarian options. The options are a good fit because of the ingredients in the Jimmy Dean Delights options, I like the croissant option and mcmuffin option along with the different types of protein with these sandwiches. I want an omelette with ham, cheese, mushrooms and spinach. There should vegetarian options. Another option would be a healthy choice version of breakfast platters. The platters would have only protein and no cards. The packaging needs to look appealing to eat.

a. I feel like the packaging stands out a little bit because some of the products look different than other products on the shelf. I like the variety of the sandwiches but feel the regular sandwiches in the red box stand out more.
b. My impression is good because I like what I see and the pictures of the products look good enough to want to eat. I like how the protein and calorie information is displayed on the box.
c. I think the options provide some recognition of the product and will make me want to buy it. I feel like the Delights breakfast options are something the entire family can enjoy. I think it compares to other Jimmy Dean products but not as high in calories. I think it is meaningfully different so consumers have options. Some people have to watch the sodium or calories.
d. The products fit well because it is frozen and I can just warm them up at home, when I'm on the go and at work. I could feed my family these sandwiches and I'm sure everyone will enjoy it. They are convenient because it could save time instead of making other breakfasts at home or work.
Thanks for going on this shopping trip and sharing your pictures!
ReplyDelete- Other than Diet Coke products, can you think of one or two other brands that intend to be healthier for you, but you would never buy because they don't meet your needs or tastes? Who would buy this particular brand?
- Is there anything that the Jimmy Dean Delights products seem to offer that the Special K Flatbreads do not? And how about the Special K products--what do their flatbreads seem to offer that the Jimmy Dean Delights line does not?
- How important is calorie count to you, particularly compared with other "heathy" considerations like protein and low sugar? Is a low calorie count a top consideration, or just a nice extra?
Thank you!
I would never buy Vitaminwater because I feel like they sugar is high for it to be a healthy drink. I will continue to drink water and take my vitamins and not have the extra carbs, sugar and calories that you get when drinking this drink. I think some athletes or young people drink these for energy and also in believing its healthy because of the name not realizing some of the ingredients in the product.
DeleteI feel the Jimmy Dean Delights meals offer more variety than the Special K Flatbread meals. I think one would get bored/tired of eating the Special K meals but with Jimmy Dean, they can always trying something new and not get bored or burned out. Also, I feel the flatbreads have lower calories for some of their flatbreads than Jimmy Dean. This is important to me because when buying some meals in the grocery store, I look at the nutritional value such as calories and sodium.
Calorie count is important to me especially when buying frozen food items. I also pay attention to the sodium and not so much the sugar but protein is important. Low calories is a top consideration when something is advertised as being healthy to me.
